The Best of the Marais: Our Must-See in this Authentic Parisian Quarter

The Marais is one of Paris' most charming and dynamic districts. With its cobbled streets, historic treasures, great food and designer boutiques, it's a must for all lovers of the capital, whether they're just passing through or Parisians at heart. Here we share with you our selection of the best of the Marais.

🖼 1. Musée Carnavalet - Plunging into the history of Paris

Housed in two superb townhouses, the Musée Carnavalet is dedicated to the history of Paris, from its origins to the present day. Recently renovated, it offers a modern, accessible scenography, with an impressive collection of works, objects and reconstructions of Parisian interiors.

👉 Don 't miss the rooms devoted to the French Revolution and the peaceful garden for a timeless break.

🥙 2. L'As du Fallafel - The street food institution

It's impossible to talk about the Marais without mentioning L'As du Fallafel, located on rue des Rosiers. This legendary address serves what many consider the best falafels in Paris. Be prepared to queue, but we promise it's worth it.

💡 Tip: Go for the takeaway and enjoy your sandwich in a nearby park.

🧺 3. Marché des Enfants Rouges - The gourmet soul of the Marais

The oldest covered market in Paris (dating back to 1615!) is both authentic and cosmopolitan. You'll find not only fresh produce, but also food for a quick bite to eat: Italian, Japanese, Lebanese or organic cuisine, there's something for everyone.

Atmosphere: friendly, popular and trendy all at once. The kind of place you come back to again and again.

🌳 4. Place des Vosges - Elegance and serenity

A true architectural gem, the Place des Vosges is a must-see. Lined with elegant arcades, it is home to art galleries, cafés and Victor Hugo's house. Its central garden is perfect for a quiet reading break or picnic.

📷 A must: a sunset photo to capture the magical ambience of the place.

🛍 5. Rue des Francs Bourgeois - Chic & cool shopping

This is THE Marais shopping street. From major names to concept stores, independent boutiques and stylish thrift shops, you'll find everything to please your wardrobe (or your loved ones).

👟 O ur tips: Go during the week to avoid the weekend crowds and stroll without pressure.

🪑 6. Fleux' - The paradise of design objects

If you love decorating, Fleux is a must. This concept store (spread over several boutiques on the same street) offers an ultra-sharp selection of furniture, everyday objects, lighting and original gifts. A veritable Ali Baba's cave of design.

🎁 Idea: it's also the perfect place to find an original gift

Bonus: a few nuggets to explore too
  • Café Charlot, for a coffee break on the terrace like real locals.

  • Galerie Perrotin, for lovers of contemporary art.

  • Librairie Yvon Lambert, for art, photography and poetry books in a place that's as sharp as it is peaceful.

  • Jardin Anne Frank, for a green break in a hidden corner away from the hustle and bustle of busy streets.

The Marais is a perfect blend of history, culture, gourmet delights and trends. Every alley hides a treasure, every street corner a surprise. Whether you're here for a stroll, a shopping spree or a brunch with friends, you'll always want to come back.
